ONE FRAME — Terms
What this is
A slow, in-person walking practice, one to one. It is not a technical course, a qualification, or a sponsored workshop. There is no curriculum and no guaranteed outcome. Participants must be 18 or over.
Booking and payment
A place is held and confirmed once it is fully paid over my website.
All prices are in GBP.
If you need to cancel
More than 14 days before the first day: the balance is refunded in full; the deposit is not.
Within 14 days: the balance is not refunded, but the practice can be moved once to another date within twelve months, subject to availability. [This applies to UK practices only. / This applies wherever the practice takes place.]
If I need to cancel
If I cancel for any reason — illness, emergency, travel failure — you choose: a full refund of everything you have paid, including the deposit, or a new date. I will also refund any non-refundable travel or accommodation you have booked for the practice, on production of the booking.
Practices outside the UK
Where the practice takes place outside the UK, my travel and accommodation are paid by the participant. These are agreed in writing before booking and become non-refundable once booked, regardless of when a cancellation happens.
The days
Two consecutive days, 10:00 to 18:00, one participant. Coffee and lunch are included.
We walk for several hours each day, mostly in public space. You must be able to walk for several hours and should tell me in advance about anything affecting pace, distance or footing.
Practices proceed in most weather. I may shorten, reroute or pause a day where I judge conditions unsafe; this is not a cancellation and does not entitle you to a refund.
If you arrive late or do not arrive, the day runs to its stated hours.
The print
One signed print of the image you choose, on Japanese washi, made by me and posted within three weeks of the second day. If you do not choose an image, no print is made.
The follow-up conversation
One hour, on video, around six weeks after the practice. It must be taken within six months, after which it lapses.
Photographs and copyright
Every photograph you make during the practice is yours. I claim no rights in it.
Every photograph I make during the practice is mine.
I may ask to photograph you, or to show work from our days together. I will ask separately and in writing, and you are free to say no. Saying no changes nothing about the practice.
Your information
I keep your questionnaire answers, the photographs you send in advance, and your contact details for as long as we are working together and for two years afterwards, so that I can follow up properly. I do not share them with anyone. You can ask me to delete them at any time.
Safety and insurance
I hold public liability insurance [insurer / policy number available on request].
You are responsible for your own wellbeing during the practice, and for insuring your own equipment. I am not responsible for loss of or damage to your camera or belongings.
Ending a practice early
I may end a practice without refund in the event of behaviour that is unsafe, abusive, or unlawful.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
