Notes from New York
New York is a powerhouse of impressions, fast movement, and energy for me. Whenever I am there, I can’t do anything else than walk, observe, take in and feel the energy of this place.
During my walks through Lower Manhattan, I always feel that you can’t bring an agenda; instead, you try to blend in, move with the speed and flow of the city, and try to merge with the locals. I followed the light instead of the maps, especially locations inspired by Phil Penman.
Bridges, façades, reflections — everything became a study in balance and contrast. A woman walking her dog beneath the bridge, the burst of sunlight cutting across the pavement, a face half-hidden in darkness — each frame held its own quiet urgency.
The moments dissolve as soon as they appear. Rain is softening Fifth Avenue. The echo of footsteps. A shaft of sun between buildings at the right second. The repetition of structure that suddenly feels like a heartbeat.
Every photograph here explores tension — the interplay between presence and absence, chaos and control, and architecture and emotion.
All these images are my reflections. A conversation between the photographer and the city, between observation and intuition.
